Dehydration Agent for the Synthesis of Tetra-substituted Olefins

Bis(2,6-dimethylphenyl) chlorophosphate [B1922] is utilized in the formation of tetrasubstituted olefins by dehydration. When tertiary alcohols are treated with B1922, the phosphate esters are formed as an intermediate. Subsequent treatment with heat gives corresponding tetrasubstituted olefins in good yields with high stereoselectivity. Furthermore, this reaction has been used in the synthesis of tamoxifen [T2510], an antitumor compound. B1922 is also used as a condensing agent for the synthesis of oligonucleotides with phosphorodithioates.

Phosphine Ligand for Highly Regioselective C-H Borylation

2,2‘-Bis[bis(3,5-dimethylphenyl)phosphino]-1,1’-bipheny [B5957] is used for C-H borylation and forms an iridium complex under catalytic condition. The iridium-catalyzed C-H borylation using bis(pinacolato)diboron [B1964] proceeds in high yields and high regioselectivities. The reaction is highly tolerant towards a variety of functional groups and is applicable to the borylation at late stages.
